The Farman F.223 Bn.5 (five-seat night bomber) was studied in 1936 as a replacement for the Farman F.222. However, at the request of the Air Ministry, the heavy bomber was transformed into a Transatlantic Long-haul Aircraft. It operated within the LAM (Lignes Aériennes Militaires), Fezzan, Libya.
